Apex vs MyFundedFutures 2026: The $100K Payout Cap Nobody Mentions

In this Article:

$100,000.

That is the maximum total payout MyFundedFutures will ever send you across all your accounts combined — on their Pro plan. Hit it, and you move to a live account. That sounds like a feature. But it also means every dollar you earn above that number sits locked until you clear a threshold most traders take 12 to 18 months to reach. Meanwhile, Apex has no such ceiling. And neither does the firm most traders find only after they’ve paid for the lesson.

This comparison covers both firms completely: three MFFU plans, Apex’s single model, payout caps, consistency rules, and the structural question nobody asks until it’s too late.

Apex vs MyFundedFutures vs Phidias: Quick Comparison (2026)

Apex Trader Funding: The Full Breakdown

Apex has been running since around 2019. Over 100,000 funded traders. A 4.5 Trustpilot rating from nearly 16,000 reviews. In the futures prop firm world, that track record is a genuine differentiator. Firms come and go — Apex has been paying traders consistently for five-plus years.

Their model is deliberately simple: one-step evaluation, one account type (plus some variations), EOD trailing drawdown throughout. You pay once for the evaluation and pay an activation fee when you pass. No monthly subscriptions.

Apex Evaluation

The 100K evaluation costs approximately $207 as a one-time fee, often discounted during promos. The profit target is $6,000. Max trailing drawdown is $3,000, calculated at end of day. No daily loss limit. Minimum 7 trading days — you cannot rush this in two sessions.

On paper, EOD drawdown and no daily loss limit are strong. In practice, the 7-day minimum is the friction point for experienced traders who can hit their target faster.

Apex Funded Account (PA): The 50% Trap

Passing moves you to a PA — paper account, real payouts. This is where Apex’s rules become materially more demanding than the evaluation.

The consistency rule on the funded PA is 50%. No single trading day can represent more than half your total cycle profit. One strong NQ trend day — say, a $2,800 session — can freeze your payout eligibility until you trade your way to a larger base. For traders who capitalize on high-conviction macro moves, this rule consistently delays payouts by one to three weeks per cycle.

Payout processing runs through Deel, a third-party platform. First payout requires KYC through Deel. Total time from request to funds in your account: 5–10 business days. For traders used to next-day processing anywhere else, this is slow.

The activation fee of approximately $140 to convert your passed evaluation into a live PA is separate from the evaluation cost. Total entry to first funded day at the 100K level: roughly $347.

There is no ceiling on total payouts at Apex. Run 20 accounts, hit your targets every cycle, the money keeps coming. That unlimited scalability is the strongest argument for Apex among high-volume traders.

MyFundedFutures: The Full Breakdown

MyFundedFutures launched in late 2023. 4.9 Trustpilot from 11,000+ reviews — one of the highest rated futures prop firms on the market. The brand rebuilt its entire plan structure in July 2025, replacing old Starter/Expert/Milestone accounts with three new plans: Core, Rapid, and Pro. Any article or Reddit thread referencing the old structure is outdated.

One major change in July 2025: activation fees were eliminated across all plans. MFFU now runs on monthly subscriptions instead. That’s a structural difference from Apex worth understanding fully before choosing.

The Three MFFU Plans — and Why the Choice Matters

MFFU’s three plans are not interchangeable. The drawdown type, consistency rules, payout caps, and costs differ enough that you are effectively choosing between three different firms.

Core ($77/month for 50K): EOD trailing drawdown at 3%. 80/20 profit split. 40% consistency rule in the funded phase. Payout cap of $5,000 per cycle. The cheapest entry point — and the most restrictive in terms of payout volume per cycle.

Rapid ($129/month for 50K, up to $229 for 150K): Intraday trailing drawdown at 4%. This is the critical distinction. The drawdown updates in real time, including unrealized PnL. Open positions can move your floor while you are not at your desk. 90/10 profit split — the best split available — but the intraday drawdown is significantly more dangerous for anything other than pure scalping. No consistency rule in the funded phase. Payout cap of $11,250 per cycle.

Pro ($229/month for 50K, up to $399 for 150K): EOD trailing drawdown at 3%. 80/20 split. No consistency rule in the funded phase. The most expensive plan — and the only one with a path to live funding, triggered at a $100,000 cumulative payout cap across all accounts combined.

The Monthly Subscription Problem

MFFU’s subscription model has a compounding cost that one-time-fee firms don’t have. On a 100K Pro account at $229/month, every month you spend in the evaluation or funded phase before withdrawing is $229 that comes out of your net return. Three months to pass and start pulling payouts? That’s $687 before you’ve earned a dollar.

Apex’s activation fee of $140 is a one-time charge and done. MFFU’s monthly fee keeps running. For traders who take longer to pass evaluations — or who experience a rough funded month — the subscription cost is a quiet drain that doesn’t show up in the headline pricing.

MFFU’s Genuine Strengths

The overnight holding is real and applies to all plans. MFFU is one of the few firms that allows swing positions across all their accounts — evaluation and funded. EOD drawdown on Core and Pro means your floor doesn’t move against you while you hold overnight.

The 4.9 Trustpilot rating and 11,000+ reviews is not noise. MFFU has a documented payout track record, active community, and founder Matthew Leech who has been publicly accountable. For traders who prioritize firm legitimacy and community trust, MFFU is among the strongest options in the market.

Platform support is broad: Tradovate, TradingView, NinjaTrader, Quantower, ATAS, and more. No platform lock-in.

The Payout Cap: The Number Most Traders Don’t Read

Every MFFU plan has a per-cycle payout cap. Core caps you at $5,000 per cycle. Rapid at $11,250. Pro at $100,000 cumulative total — ever — across all your accounts.

The Pro cap is the one that surprises traders. $100K sounds like a lot. It is, until you realize that’s the total amount MFFU will ever pay you across your entire history with the firm. A trader running two 150K Pro accounts, pulling $8,000 per cycle, hits the $100K ceiling in about 12-13 cycles — roughly a year of solid funded trading. After that: live account transition.

The live account transition is presented as a feature, and it is — you move from simulation to real capital. But the path to it is a hard cap, not a choice. You don’t decide when to go live. The cap decides for you.

The Structural Problem Both Firms Share

Apex and MFFU take different approaches to almost everything — fee model, plan structure, consistency rules, payout caps. But they share one structural constraint that most traders only notice after they’ve been running funded accounts for a few months.

Neither firm offers swing trading without a catch.

Apex does not allow overnight holding at all. Full stop — all positions must be closed by 4:59 PM EST. For swing traders, Apex is simply not an option.

MFFU allows overnight holding, which is a genuine advantage. But the drawdown mechanics on Core and Pro reset at end of day, which means your overnight position is part of the next day’s drawdown calculation. On the Rapid plan, the intraday drawdown updates in real time — an overnight gap move against you can breach your floor while you sleep.

The deeper issue: both firms keep you in simulation indefinitely (Apex) or until a hard payout cap triggers a live transition (MFFU Pro at $100K). You are trading paper capital. The path to trading real, live capital is either nonexistent (Apex) or conditional on hitting a total payout ceiling that most traders reach over the course of a year.

For traders who want swing access, no payout ceiling, and a defined path to live capital on their own timeline — neither firm gives you all three.

Phidias: What Changes When You Remove the Caps

Phidias entered this comparison because the structural gaps in both Apex and MFFU point directly at what a better-designed funded account looks like. Here’s whether it actually delivers.

Pricing: $144.60 for a 100K Fundamental account. One-time. No subscription. No activation fee. That is the total price to get to a funded CASH account. Compare to MFFU Pro at $229/month — three months of evaluation and funded trading costs $687 before the first payout. Phidias at $144.60, total, with no recurring drain.

Drawdown: EOD trailing on both the evaluation and funded CASH account. Same rules from day one to payout day. No mid-game switch, no intraday exposure on overnight holds.

Overnight: Swing accounts allow positions held overnight and over weekends. No 4:59 PM cutoff. No drawdown floor moving against you while you sleep. Swing traders at Phidias have 83% more successful payouts than intraday-only traders — that data comes from tracking funded accounts over time.

Consistency rule: 30% on CASH accounts only. Lower than Apex’s 50% and MFFU Core’s 40%. Drops to zero on live accounts.

Payout cap: None. There is no ceiling. No per-cycle limit. No cumulative max. Every dollar you earn above the profit target is accessible.

Path to live: After 3 payouts with one account, or $75,000 in cumulative payouts, you qualify for a live funded account. Not a simulation transition triggered by a cap you had no control over. A milestone you can see coming, plan around, and hit on your own timeline.

Which Is Right for You: Apex, MFFU, or Phidias

Choose Apex if: you trade intraday only (no overnight), you want to run up to 20 funded accounts simultaneously, and long-term track record matters more than anything else. Apex’s 5+ year history is real. For traders scaling via volume — multiple accounts, consistent daily P&L — Apex’s unlimited payout ceiling and no subscription model make it the strongest pure intraday option.

Choose MFFU Core if: you want the lowest monthly entry point and can work within the $5,000 per-cycle payout cap. Best for newer funded traders still building consistency, where the cap won’t be hit for a while anyway.

Choose MFFU Rapid if: you are a high-frequency intraday scalper who wants 90/10 splits and no consistency rule in the funded phase — and you fully understand that an intraday trailing drawdown means your floor moves in real time, including against overnight positions. This plan is for experienced traders who know exactly what they’re doing.

Choose MFFU Pro if: you want overnight holding with EOD drawdown, no consistency rule funded, and a path to live capital. Just go in knowing the $100K cumulative cap is a hard ceiling, not a suggestion, and that the monthly subscription compounds over time.

Choose Phidias if: you swing trade, hold overnight, or run multi-day trend strategies. Also the right fit if you want one-time pricing with no subscription drain, no payout caps of any kind, 1–4 hour payouts, and a clear path to a live account at 3 payouts or $75K — on your timeline, not a firm-imposed ceiling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are MFFU’s current plans in 2026?

As of July 2025, MyFundedFutures offers three plans: Core ($77/month for 50K), Rapid ($129–$229/month for 50K–150K), and Pro ($229–$399/month for 50K–150K). The old Starter, Expert, and Milestone plans no longer exist. Core and Pro use EOD trailing drawdown. Rapid uses intraday trailing drawdown, which updates in real time including unrealized PnL. All plans eliminated activation fees in July 2025 and switched to monthly subscriptions.

Does MyFundedFutures allow swing trading?

Yes. Overnight holding is permitted on all MFFU plans during both the evaluation and funded phases. On Core and Pro, the EOD drawdown calculation includes overnight positions — your floor resets at end of day based on closing balance. On Rapid, the intraday trailing drawdown can move against overnight positions in real time, which is a meaningful risk for multi-session holds.

What is the MFFU Pro payout cap?

The Pro plan has a $100,000 cumulative payout cap across all your MFFU accounts combined. Once you hit that total across your payout history, you transition to a live funded account. This is not a per-cycle limit — it’s a lifetime total with MFFU. For active funded traders running multiple 150K accounts, this cap can be reached in 12–18 months of solid trading.

Does Apex allow overnight positions?

No. Apex requires all positions to be closed by 4:59 PM EST every trading day. This applies to both the evaluation and the funded PA account. There are no exceptions for swing or position traders. For traders who hold overnight, Apex is not a viable option. MFFU and Phidias both allow overnight holding.

How does MFFU’s monthly subscription compare to Apex’s one-time fee?

Apex charges once per evaluation attempt (~$207 for 100K) plus a $140 activation fee after passing. Total: ~$347 with no recurring charges. MFFU charges monthly for as long as you’re active — $229/month for a 100K Pro account. Three months in evaluation and early funded trading costs $687 before your first payout. For traders who pass quickly and generate fast payouts, MFFU’s monthly cost is manageable. For traders with slower evaluation timelines, the subscription compounds significantly.

What is Phidias’ path to a live account?

After 3 payouts with one account, or $75,000 in cumulative payouts, Phidias traders qualify for a live funded account. On the live account: no consistency rules, no minimum trading days, daily payout requests available with a $500 minimum, and an 80/20 profit split. This path is trader-controlled — you choose when to progress based on your performance, not a firm-imposed cap that triggers automatically.

Which firm has the best Trustpilot rating?

As of early 2026, MyFundedFutures holds a 4.9 from 11,000+ reviews — one of the highest in the futures prop firm space. Apex sits at 4.5 from 15,900+ reviews. Both ratings reflect genuine multi-year track records. MFFU’s higher score reflects strong community satisfaction, particularly around their payout reliability and responsive support team.

Is there a daily loss limit at Apex or MFFU?

No, neither firm uses a daily loss limit. This is a shared advantage over firms like Tradeify (which has a daily loss limit on some funded paths). At both Apex and MFFU, your only floor is the trailing drawdown — EOD on standard Apex and MFFU Core/Pro plans, intraday on MFFU Rapid. Phidias also has no daily loss limit on any account type.
